Wednesdays at Targhee
I have always loved to ski and if I ever get a chance to ski I take it...every Wednesday I go up to Grand Targhee as a coordinator for the ski class that BYU-I offers. As a coordinator for the class all I really do is ski...occasionally when there is a problem then I take care of it but there's rarely anything that happens. It is a nice break that I get each week. It is always a little crazy when I get back into Rexburg because the bus pulls in at 6:00 and I have class at 7:00. I usually don't get to class early. So far the snow at Targhee this year hasn't been that great. Normally they have twice the amount of snow they have right now. Even with the lack of snow it has still been a lot of fun. It is my first season skiing after being back from Ukraine. Luckily, I didn't forget how to ski.

XC Skiing at Mesa Falls
Earlier this week I was asked by my friend Paisley if I could help guide a XC ski trip to some local waterfalls. Being the over zealous ready to be outside person I am I readily agreed. It was a pretty big group, about 20 people. Normally we only have about 10 people on these trips so it was a little hectic at times trying to get everything in order and keeping the group together. The weather was better than I could have imagined, I actually got sunburned a little..whoops sorry Mom! I really enjoy taking people on trips like these because it is a way for me to share something that I really love with lots of people. In my opinion everyone should love what I love to do because it's great! The entire trip was about 4.5 miles round trip with the majority being uphill on the way to the falls. Some of the participants caught on really quickly to xc skiing while others...not so much. One thing I have noticed is that when you are guiding a trip the participants really look up to you and think that you are literally the world's expert on that activity. Little do they know that in the last four years I have only been xc skiing twice, today and last Saturday. I did take a class a few years ago about xc skiing though so don't worry, I have some training. Some funny things about the trip today: there was one corner where almost every person fell over in the exact same spot, the first person in line dropped money on the ground and I was the only person to pick it up (I was at the very end of our group, there ended up being car keys as well), and a random funny guy that was in our group picture and the snowshoeing group picture as well. Overall, it was a great day and mother nature didn't let us down with the beautiful scenery and awesome weather.
